Exceptional Teen Ambassadors from Ghana Visit Washington

Six Youth Ambassadors from Ghana Find Wonders to Behold in the Nation’s Capital. It was a trip to Washington DC, sponsored by Plan Ghana in Conjunction with Plan USA and the Diaspora Africa Forum. Plan created an exciting international program for children and young leaders of tomorrow in Africa and the USA.

The youths spent the last week of august in DC with Plan USA and Plan Ghana representatives and African American children from DC. News teams were invited to a fundraiser/reception for the Ghana Youth Ambassadors on Saturday, August 23 at The Peace Center on Columbia Road, to support Plan’s Youth Ambassadors program. The Washington Informer quoted :" The young Ghanian “ambassadors,” ages 12 to 16, arrived in Washington at a most historic time: Barack Obama, a man with a direct bloodline to Africa—flesh of their flesh, skin the color of their skin—would be accepting the Democratic party’s nomination for President before the youths return to their native land.
“It makes me very proud because he is an African,” offered Abigail Sogah, 15, who like most Africans knows that Obama’s father was Kenyan.  “If he is elected I will be very happy. It would be inspiration for me. I can also become a very prominent person,” said Abigail."

The Diplomatic Pouch released a full report of the wonderful adventure these children have saying: " It’s been a whirlwind “diplomatic” tour of sorts for six bright and fortunate young teens from Ghana who were chosen to represent their country as “youth ambassadors” in a new program launched by the children’s organization Plan USA.(..) the children also saw a more recent, positive, connection to African American history when they noticed election posters for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. “Obama makes us proud,” said Mahama Wutor, the oldest in the group at age 16, who wants to be a lawyer and bring justice to the poor. “We see him as someone who stands to bring people together. And his father,” Wutor added with pride, “is African.” " Read the Diplomatic Pouch report!
