Welcome to Plan Senegal
Senegal is situated on the West African coast. The rural Senegalese live in clay huts with thatch roofs or, occasionally, in small houses made from concrete cinder blocks with asbestos and corrugated iron roofs. Urban dwellings range from large villas, to high-rise apartment buildings, to small wooden or concrete structures.
Agriculture is the most important element of Senegal's economy, employing most of the work force directly or indirectly. The country is dependent on the export of peanuts, which accounts for 75% of agricultural exports and 50% of total exports.
Last year was the 20th anniversary of Plan in Senegal, where we work with more than 32,000 sponsored children and their families through community driven projects.
